Google Analytics only runs if you say yes to the cookie banner — here's the exact, honest breakdown of what an account (and a visit) stores.
What we actually collect today
Your IP address, briefly, in memory only. Every request is checked against a simple per-IP rate limit to stop scripted abuse from breaking the site for everyone else. That check lives entirely in server memory, auto-expires after 60 seconds, is never written to a database or log file, and is never shared with anyone.
If you sign in: your email address, and nothing else about you. Signing in is a one-time email link, not a password — we never see or store a password, because there isn't one. Your email is stored so we know it's you next time and so we can send that sign-in link; that's the only real personal information this app holds.
A single sign-in cookie, only if you sign in. It's a random, meaningless token that identifies your session — not a tracking cookie, not shared with anyone, and (aside from the Google Analytics cookie below, and only if you accept it) the only cookie this site ever sets. No cookies at all if you don't sign in and decline analytics.
Favorite teams, only if you sign in and star any. Just a league and team, tied to your account, so we can show them back to you. Nothing else about you is inferred from this.
Google Analytics, only if you accept the cookie banner. A real cookie banner shows on your first visit; declining (or ignoring it) means Analytics never loads at all, and nothing beyond the items above is ever collected. Accepting starts real, standard Google Analytics (page views, rough location from IP, device/browser type) - the same tool most sites use, run by Google under their own privacy policy, not something we built. We use it in aggregate, to see which pages actually get used - never to identify you individually, and never combined with your account email. Where the sports data itself comes from
This is about data flowing into the site to build predictions, not data collected about you — but we're including it for full transparency. Scores, team records, and injury reports come from ESPN's public site data; sportsbook lines (when shown) come from The Odds API; college football ratings come from CollegeFootballData.com; MLB contact-quality stats come from Baseball Savant. None of that involves your personal information in any way — it's the same public sports data anyone can look up.
How your email gets used
A third-party email service (Resend) delivers the sign-in link on our behalf — it briefly sees your email address to do that, the same way any email provider does when you send a message through it. We never send you marketing email, and there's no separate mailing list. If you'd like your account and email address deleted entirely, just ask at the address below.
If that changes — payment, etc.
We're considering a paid tier down the road. If and when that happens, this page will be rewritten before that feature ships — not after (a payment processor would handle your card details directly, and we'd never see or store the full number ourselves). We won't sell your data. That's a promise we're making now, while it's easy to keep, specifically so it still applies later.
